Black Stars need a coach in the mould of Milovan Rajevac - Ernest Thompson

Former Executive Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ernest Thompson has said that he will not recommend any local coach for the vacant Black Stars position.

According to the second-highest majority shareholder of Accra Hearts of Oak, the Black Stars currently need a coach in the mould of Milovan Rajevac and Mariano Barreto and that rules out all the local coaches.

Thompson argued that Ghanaian coaches have historically struggled to assert authority within the national team and withstand external interference.

"Looking at where we are now after parting ways with Otto Addo, we need to go for the best. For the next six months, I would not recommend appointing a Ghanaian coach."

"From my experience, they have not been able to effectively control their camp. We need a coach in the mould of a Mariano Barreto or Milovan Rajevac," Ernest Thompson said on Joy FM.

He also cast doubt on Kwasi Appiah's suitability for the current Black Stars team.

"I don't think Kwesi Appiah has the firmness needed to control this team. At this stage, we are dealing with high stakes at the World Cup is not a playground like the Africa Cup of Nations."
