KL Rahul entered his name in the record books on Sunday (May 24) by becoming the first player to hit 30-plus sixes in an IPL season for three different teams.

KL Rahul opened the innings for Delhi Capitals in their last league match of the ongoing IPL 2026 season on Sunday (May 24) and played a superb knock of 60 runs from 30 balls. During his stay at the crease against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, he hammered 5 fours and 4 sixes. The four sixes by Rahul against the Ajinkya Rahane-led side helped him extend his tally of sixes to 31 in IPL 2026. The total of 31 sixes by Rahul in this year’s IPL for Delhi Capitals helped him become the first player in the world to hit 30-plus sixes in an IPL season for three different teams.

Rahul, who has also represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL along with DC, hammered 32 sixes in 14 matches of IPL 2018 for PBKS. In the 2021 edition he slammed 30 sixes for PBKS and touched the 30-mark season once again in the 2022 season, but this time for the Lucknow Super Giants.

Players with 30-plus sixes for multiple teams in IPL

During his playing days in the IPL from 2009 to 2021, Chris Gayle scored 30-plus sixes in an IPL season for RCB and Punjab Kings, whereas Glenn Maxwell also finished the season with 30-plus for PBKS and RCB, but no one had achieved the feat of hitting 30 sixes in an IPL season for three different teams.

The total of 31 sixes in IPL 2026 also helped Rahul become the second batter after Rishabh Pant to hit 30 or more sixes in an IPL season for Delhi Capitals.

Most sixes for Delhi Capitals in an IPL season

Pant, who led LSG in IPL 2026, played 14 matches for the Delhi-based franchise in IPL 2018 and slammed 37 sixes.

In the list of batters with most sixes in an IPL season for Delhi Capitals, Pant and Rahul are followed by Jake Fraser-McGurk. The top-order batter from Australia smashed 28 sixes in nine matches of IPL 2024 for DC under Rishabh Pant’s leadership.
